About the role

Affidavit Services is building a platform that lets Ontario residents commission affidavits, statutory declarations, and other legal documents entirely online — no travel, no waiting rooms. As a commissioner on our platform, you conduct short video sessions from wherever you work, on the schedule you choose.

This is a flexible, independent contractor role. You set your availability weekly and accept only the sessions that fit your schedule. There is no minimum commitment.

Compensation

What you'll do

• Conduct short video sessions with clients who need to have documents commissioned
• Verify the client's identity using government-issued ID presented on camera
• Witness the client sign the document live and apply your digital jurat
• Review and approve the final commissioned document through the platform
• Maintain your weekly availability so clients can book you in advance

Who can apply

• AG-appointed Commissioners for Taking Affidavits — valid Ontario appointment with an active commission number
• LSO-licensed lawyers — member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
• LSO-licensed paralegals — member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
• CTA sponsorship applicants — no existing credentials required; we sponsor qualified candidates through the Ontario Attorney General appointment process (4–8 weeks)

Requirements

• Reliable internet connection and a device with a working camera and microphone
• A quiet, professional environment for conducting sessions
• Ability to verify identity documents clearly on video
• Familiarity with the requirements of the Commissioners for Taking Affidavits Act (Ontario)
• Canadian bank account for direct deposit payouts via Stripe
